A day after winning the first Longines Ranking class of the weekend at the Autumn Mediterranean Tour 1, France’s Julien Epaillard secured his second back to back victory in Friday’s €24,600 grand prix qualifier.
Epaillard took to the grass fields in Oliva Nova, Spain aboard the 11-year-old Selle Francais stallion Safari D Auge on Friday, October 6, 2017. Fifty one entries made up the opening round, with 15 proceeding to the shortened track designed by Germany’s Frank Rothenberger. Epaillard put up a speedy jump-off time of 24.15s to secure the 1st place victory.
Belgium’s Constant van Paesschen and the ten-year-old Holsteiner gelding Compadre van de Helle (Casall x Concerto I) finished in 2nd with a time of 27.19s. For 3rd place, Brazil’s Pedro Veniss and the ten-year-old Selle Francais stallion Tresor de Varende (Esprit de Conquete x Apple de River) crossed the timers in 27.33s.
