Meet Dr. Jenny Susser
Dr. Jenny Susser is a Clinical Health Psychologist and sport psychology specialist who helps riders navigate fear, pressure, and overthinking in the saddle. She has worked with athletes across multiple Olympic Games, including the 2012 U.S. Dressage Team that earned team bronze, and has supported competitors to the podium. A former All-American swimmer who competed at the Olympic Trials, she brings firsthand experience with high-pressure sport. Her approach is direct and grounded in how riding feels day to day, especially when pressure shifts the way a rider thinks and reacts. She focuses on helping riders understand their responses and apply specific strategies they can use in the saddle, so they can stay with their ride at home, in lessons, and at competitions.
Who This Training Is For
This is for the rider who says things like:
- “I ride great at home, but I fall apart at shows.”
- “I get in my head and can’t stop overthinking.”
- “I freeze when I go in the ring.”
It’s for the rider who starts picturing how it could go wrong before anything even happens. The one who feels their heart rate pick up and their focus slip.
It’s for the rider who had a fall and hasn’t felt the same since. The one who wants to keep trying, but feels their body hesitate anyway.
It’s also for the rider who feels solid most days—until the jumps go up, the pace changes, or their horse feels like a lot that day, and everything gets a little less certain.
And it’s for the rider who knows they can do it, but can’t seem to do it when it counts—and wants something more useful than “be confident.”

How to Control Fear and Anxiety
Learn MoreRather than asking you to “just be confident,” Dr. Jenny arms you with concrete tools to shift from panic to power. You’ll learn the science behind fear (yes, there’s a reason you “blank out” in the ring), how to train your brain with breathing and mindfulness, and how to build thought patterns and riding habits that keep your cool intact, even when your horse spooks or your confidence wobbles.
-
Performing Under Pressure
Learn MoreDr. Jenny Susser helps you develop the mindset and mental tools to ride (and live) with more focus, confidence, and clarity—no matter what pressure you’re facing. Whether it’s competition day nerves, anxiety around your trainer, or simply riding in front of others, this course will help you identify your personal relationship to pressure and develop a game plan for thriving through it.
Why Learn from Dr. Jenny Susser
Dr. Jenny Susser works with riders who know how to ride, but struggle when nerves or pressure take over. Her teaching starts with a simple idea: fear is part of the system, and you can learn what to do when it shows up—just like anything else in your riding.
-
Stop Getting in Your Head
Learn how to catch overthinking as it starts and replace it with simple, usable thoughts you can ride with.
-
Handle Nerves Without Losing the Ride
Use breathing and focus tools to steady your body so you can think clearly.
-
Rebuild Confidence After a Fall
Come back with a plan—add new skills, take smaller steps, and rebuild trust in a way that feels manageable.
-
Ride the Same Way at Shows as You Do at Home
Prepare for pressure ahead of time so your body and mind respond the same way in new environments.
-
Stay Focused When It Feels Like a Lot
Bring your focus back using simple mental cues and questions when your mind starts to drift or speed up.
-
Have a Plan When Things Go Sideways
Know how to respond when your horse spooks, gets strong, or something goes off plan so you can keep riding instead of freezing.
What You’ll Take Into Your Ride
You don’t need to feel more confident before you ride. You need something to do when the nerves show up.
This training gives you a clear way to handle those moments, so you can stay with your ride instead of getting pulled out of it.
You’ll learn how to:
- Steady your breathing when your body starts to react
- Bring your focus back when your mind drifts or speeds up
- Replace overthinking with simple, usable thoughts
- Prepare for rides, lessons, and shows so they feel more familiar
- Keep riding when things don’t go to plan
That’s what starts to change your rides.
