Beezie will ride Coral Reef via Volo in Coapexen, Mexico
The United States heads into Friday’s Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup at CSIO4* Coapexpan looking to secure valuable points towards qualifying for the 2014 Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping Series Final. A total of four teams from three countries, Mexico has fielded two but only one will jump for points, will go head-to-head on Friday afternoon, with the U.S. jumping first in the order.
In Mexico, the United States team of Beezie Madden, Christine McCrea, Jon McCrea, and Sarah Segal will be led by Chef d’Equipe Anthony D’Ambrosia.
Madden (Cazenovia, N.Y.) makes her second Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup appearance of 2014 after helping the U.S. to earn a third-place finish at CSIO4* Wellington. In Mexico, she will ride her 2011 Pan American Games and 2012 Olympic Games partner Coral Reef Ranch’s Coral Reef Via Volo. The pair heads into Friday’s competition on strong form after winning the American Invitational presented by G&C Farm in April.
Christine and Jon McCrea, of East Windsor, Conn., are set to make history, as they will be one of the only husband-and-wife combinations to ride on a U.S. jumping team in more 40 years. Christine was Madden’s teammate at the 2011 Pan American Games in Guadalajara, Mexico, where she earned Team and Individual Gold. On Friday, she and Candy Tribble and Windsor Show Stables’ Zerly will look to produce solid rounds for the U.S. Jon makes his American team debut at Coapexpan and is set to ride Candy Tribble’s Special Lux. The pair head into the Nations Cup competition after a strong winter campaign at the FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival.
Rounding out the U.S. effort in Mexico are Segal (Flemington, N.J.) and Robert Segal’s Ramses. The pair spent the winter jumping in Wellington, Fla., and kicked off their 2014 campaign with a seventh-place finish in the Mar-O-Lago Club Grand Prix.
