Belgium’s Niels Brynseels steered Domingo into pole position when last to go in tonight’s final competition, the Premio BMW in which Ukraine’s Katharina Offel lined up second with Pin Up Ouistreham ahead of Great Britain’s Ben Maher and Wings Sublieme in third. Maher led for much of the competition when posting a time of 56.93 seconds with his 11-year-old bay mare, Wings Sublieme, but Offel overtook him when racing through the finish in 55.88 and that was the target that Brynseels was chasing as he set off with determination. And he succeeded in demoting his Ukrainian opponent to runner-up spot when shaving 0.16 seconds off her time. He was delighted with the result from his gelding who has been showing great form at Jumping Verona. “Yesterday we finished third and today we win, so I’m very happy!” said the Belgian rider.
