Ben Maher awarded the CHIO Aachen Fan Award, powered by 100’5 DAS HITRADIO….

Britain’s Ben Maher was awarded the CHIO Aachen Fan Award, powered by 100’5 DAS HITRADIO on Sunday in Aachen ahead of the Grand Prix course walk. Accepting the award on his relatively new mount Wings Sublieme, Ben Maher enjoyed a huge applause from the growing crowd as anticipation for Sunday’s Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen began to build. The CHIO Aachen Fan Award is given to the riders that the Aachen audience and attendees of the show through out the week, vote for. The Aachen public vote for their favorite rider and this year they chose European Champion Team Gold medalist and 2012 Olympic Team gold medalist Ben Maher.

About Ben..

Ben began his early riding career training with British rider Liz Edgar, before travelling to Switzerland where he spent two years riding for Swiss show jumper Beat Mandli. Ben was a very successful Young Rider, helping the British Young Riders to a Team European Gold in 2004. Ben has since become a regular member of the senior British international team, competing in the 2009, 2011 and 2013 European Championships, and the 2008 and 2012 Olympic Games.

Ben won Team Gold at the 2012 London Olympics after which he was awarded an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire) by Her Majesty The Queen. Ben has also won Team Bronze at the 2011 European Championships and Team Gold and Individual Silver at the 2013 European Championships.
