Jump Canada is pleased to announce that Canada has been invited to compete with two teams at the CSIO5*-W Spruce Meadows ‘Continental’ Tournament which is acting as the third and final qualifier for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Jumping Final, set to take place in Barcelona, ESP from October 9-12.

Although Canada will compete at the ‘Continental’ Tournament with two teams, only one (Canada One) will be a designated points team in the hopes of qualifying for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Final in Barcelona. The teams that will be representing Canada in the $125,000 CSIO5*-W Spruce Meadows Nations Cup are as follows:

Canada One (Points Team)

Yann Candele / Showgirl / Caledon, ON
Tiffany Foster / Tripple X III / Verdi III / Schomberg, ON
Eric Lamaze / Powerplay / Zigali PS / Schomberg, ON
Ian Millar / Dixson / Star Power / Perth, ON
Chef d’Équipe – Mark Laskin / Langley, BC

“We’ve been fortunate enough to win the first two regional qualifiers for the Furusiyya Nations Cup Final. I’m very optimistic about this team’s chances of completing the hat trick,” said Laskin.

Canada Two

Kara Chad / Alberto II / Calgary, AB
Jonathon Millar / Calvin Klein / Perth, ON
Chris Sorensen / Bobby / Caledon, ON
Keean White / Pironella / Acton, ON
Chef d’Équipe – Gail Greenough / Calgary, AB

Both teams will be supported by Equine Canada’s Jumping team manager, Karen Hendry-Ouellette and stable manager, Darren Roberts.

The first North American regional qualifier for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ was held in the form of a $75,000 Nations Cup Qualifier at the CSIO4* FTI Consulting Winter Equestrian Festival in Wellington, FL this past March. Team Canada (comprised of Candele, Foster, Lamaze, and Millar) took first place, giving them 100 qualifying points. In Mexico, the Canadian team (made up of Chad, Jonathon Millar, Ian Millar and Sorensen) picked up their second consecutive win of the series on May 9 at the CSIO4* Coapexpan in the $80,000 Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup for another 100 points. Team Canada will head into the final qualifier with a total of 200 points. Team USA follows with 180 points, while Mexico is in third place on 160 points.
