The FEI has announced the 2014 Furusiyya Nations Cup Qualifiers today. In this announcement, FEI explains that CHIO Aachen, the legendary Horse show event in Germany, will not be part of the 20 qualifiers this season. Traditionally, Nations Cup teams have flocked to Aachen every July to compete both in the Rolex Grand Prix of Aachen and the famous Nations Cup event. In 2012, Team France won the coveted title and last season Team Netherlands won the first Furusiyya Nations Cup competition to be held at the legendary show grounds.
However, it 2014, CHIO Aachen will not play host to a Furusiyya Nations Cup event.
“Regretfully, at the time of the 31 December deadline for declaration of participation, we were informed by the German National Federation that Aachen was unable to meet the commercial requirements and therefore would not be part of the Furusiyya series in 2014. Despite the best efforts of all parties, with discussions continuing right up to yesterday, it was not possible to resolve this matter,” FEI Jumping Committee Chair John Madden said.
Following the news that Aachen will not be part of the 2014 series, Lummen (BEL) has been moved into Europe Division 1 to make up the full complement of eight events in that division. Further to the decision of the Jumping Committee, FEI Headquarters will now finalise the agreements with the National Federations and organising committees.
Details of FEI TV’s live coverage for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup™ Jumping series will be announced following final confirmation of the calendar at the beginning of February.
