Great Britain’s Chloe Aston and the 12-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Amigo T (Padinus x Achill/Libero H) won the 1.45m competition at the Vilamoura Champions Tour CSI3* on Thursday, October 5, 2017.

Aston and Amigo were joined by a field of 76 entries in the feature class of the day, taking place at the Vilamoura Equestrian Center in Portugal. Italy’s Elio Travagliati and Fulvio Santi designed the 12-obstacle-course for the event that featured one round against the clock. The class counted towards the Longines Rankings and doubled as a qualifier for Sunday’s €25,000 1.50m Grand Prix.

In producing the fastest, clear round in 61.09s, Aston ended the day atop the podium, securing the winners share of the €24,600 purse. Amigo and the 22-year-old rider, who turns 23 in two days, have competed together on the rated circuit since October of 2014.

Great Britain closed out the remaining podium placings, with Harry Charles and the ten-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Controe (Wender R x Iroko) finishing in 2nd place with a time of 61.96s. In 3rd place, Laura Renwick and Bitang II, the 11-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding (Tangelo van de Zuuthoeve x Orlando), finished in 62.22s.
