Darragh Kenny went one better on the previous day’s result when he won the Medium Tour CSI2* under the lights of the Deutsche Bank Stadium in Aachen, Germany.
On Friday, Kenny and the 10-year-old Belgian gelding Global Van T Braunerthof (Vigo D’Arsouilles x Landetto) placed 2nd in the Medium Tour 1.45m. Kenny’s mount is owned by Karen Polle and had most recently been shown by Polle in Wellington and Lanaken. Kenny also won Thursday’s Medium Tour class, with Catuso.
With 58 starters coming back for Saturday night’s Medium Tour Grand Prix, Kenny had to continue on form to qualify for the jumpoff. He was joined by nine other riders, but once again smoked the competition, finishing nearly two seconds faster than the next best rider, in 37.93 seconds.
Marc Boes of Belgium with Bocelli Li was 2nd, and Egypt’s Abdel Said was 3rd on Imke 111. Elizabeth Meyer and Ciacomina of Germany were 4th, and Peter Clemens of Belgium rounded out the top five with Corradina Pp.
