Kenny’s Sans Soucis Z could quite possibly make the team for this year’s European Championships. The pair finished third in the Longines Grand Prix of St. Gallen and the LGCT Grand Prix of Paris in recent weeks.
Darragh Kenny’s Imothep will miss out on the European Championships in Aachen next month. Hyperion Stud, owners of the 12-year-old stallion, made the following statement on their Facebook page;
“Due to a minor injury during the Rotterdam Horse Show, Imothep will sit the next month out of competition in Europe. This unfortunate turn of events will leave him out of the European Championships this year. Bad timing but he will make a full recovery. Thank you to our team and vets for putting the horses’ health before all else!”
Last year Kenny and Imothep, a 12-year-old KWPN stallion [Indoctro x Calvados] finished seventh individually at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France. It is not all bad news however, Kenny still looks to have a good chance to make the Irish team. Kenny’s mount Sans Souci Z is showing promise, finishing third in the Longines Grand Prix of St. Gallen and the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Paris in recent weeks. Sans Souci is a 12-year-old Zangersheide gelding [Surrealist V/H Paradijs x Voltaire] owned by Caroline Lloyd of the USA.
