Belgium’s very own Pieter Devos came back into action today with the scopey Dylano today. Dylano, the horse that Devos hopes to take to the European Championship in August, returned to the international ring in today’s 1.40 competition. Two months ago the grey gelding caught an injury, of which the reason has never been found.
“We didn’t treat him. It healed by giving him some time off. We’re already training him for some time now, but Knokke Hippique is the first big competition since the beginning of the season. My mare Candy jumps the Grand Prix here. Dylano will do the Championship of Knokke on Saturday night. We’re gradually building up again” said Devos. “In August the European Championship takes place in Aachen. I hope to be selected for the team of Belgium. If I am, then I prefer to ride Dylano. He placed second in the main Saturday competition of Aachen last year and jumped clean in the Grand Prix of Europe.”
Belgium was not the only country to enjoy a return of a star. The German team saw a strong horse in the ring again at Knokke Hippique. The stallion Monte Bellini of Philipp Weishaupt has been rehabilitating for the last two years. Before the European Championship in Herning in 2013, Monte Bellini was sidelined with an injury. Monte Bellini and Weishaupt were selected for Team Germany, but finally pulled out and were unable to compete.
We wish both Dylano and Monte Bellini a strong return to the sport.
