The Football World Cup in their own country may not have gone exactly as planned for the Brazilians, but today Doda Miranda and AD Amigo B did Brazil proud. The top world-ranked South-American rider was able to notch up his first victory on the second day of CHIO Aachen in his very first competition of the day. In the Prize of the Handwerk, Álvaro Affonso de Miranda Neto topped the rankings against a first-rate field comprising of 48 participants. Doda jumped the 520-metre long course designed by Frank Rothenberger with the nine-year-old KWPN stallion, AD Amigo B, clear in the fastest time of 63.09 seconds.
The French rider, Julien Epaillard, who took 63.11 seconds to finish the course with Pigmalion Du Rozel, was just two-hundredths of a second behind him. Third place went to the Belgian rider Jos Verlooy with Golden Horta – Speed Horse, who took over three seconds longer to cross the finish line (66.18). Followed by Janika Sprunger from Switzerland with Jl’s Komparse and the two German riders Marcus Ehning with Comme II Faut and Patrick Stühlmeyer with Candy Boy. In total, 17 combinations jumped clear over the twelve obstacle-course. Hans-Dieter Dreher, who won the Prize of the Handwerk last year with Master de Menardiere, didn’t compete in this jumping class this year.
