A very emotional farewell to Mylord Carthago in Paris this evening! The entire public applauded in unison while Pénélope Leprévost and the stunning grey stallion enjoyed their final lap of honor in the international arena at the Gucci Masters event in Paris, France. Leprevost spoke to the crowd about the stallion and how he has contributed to her career, she expressed her feelings through genuine tears of sadness and appreciation. The surrounding crowd listened and applauded as their hearts went out to Leprevost, her emotion sincere and heartfelt.
The French-bred stallion was honored as silver medalists at the 2010 World Championships in Kentucky and the 2011 European Championships.
In 2014, Mylord Carthago*HN carried off a test in CSIO5* Grand Prix of La Baule and ranked in several international tests among which were the Nations Cup of Aachen and the Grand Prix of Chantilly. However, the beginning of cervical osteoarthritis diminishes the possibilities of the fourteen-year-old stallion to continue competition at the international level.
Taking this into consideration, Mylord Cartho’s owner and his rider, Pénélope Leprevost, decided to put an end to the stallion’s international sporting career, so that he may concentrate on his duties as a breeding stallion.
