Gudrun Patteet & Sea Coast Atlantic. ph: Longines St. Moritz
On August 17, 2018, Belgium’s Gudrun Patteet piloted the 11-year-old Belgian Sporthorse gelding Sea Coast Atlantic (Schilling x Aramis de la Cense) to a 1st place finish during Thursday’s main CSI5* class at the Longines CSI St. Moritz competition in St. Moritz, Switzerland.
The final class of the day took place on a 13-obstacle-course designed by Switzerland’s Balsiger Guido. Forty-two riders joined Patteet in the opening round, though only 13 would make it to the shortened, jump off track. With a double clear round and a speedy time of 71s, Patteet secured the victory to claim the lump sum of the 40,000 CHF purse.
Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer and the 11-year-old CH gelding Leonard de la Ferme CH (Landjuweel x Indigene de Corday) finished on zero faults with a time of 71.45 s to secure 2nd place.
Taking the 3rd place spot with a time of 72.86 was Great Britian’s Michael Whitaker and the 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion Gentlemen v. Veldhof (Quite Easy I x Calido I).
