After injury put him on the sidelines for much of 2016, the champion mount of Great Britain’s Scott Brash is returning to competition this week.
Hello Sanctos, the 15-year-old SBS gelding (Quasimodo Van De Molendreef x Nabab De Reve) that is owned by Lord and Lady P. Harris, and Lady Kirkham, carried Brash to worldwide fame in the 2012 London Olympics, where they earned Olympic team gold, and to further history-making accomplishments in 2015, when they became the first ever winners of the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping.
But a soft-tissue injury in early 2016 forced Sanctos to take an 11-month rest from competition as Brash and his team carefully and slowly allowed ample time for healing, recovery and rehabilitation.
This week marks the first competition for Hello Sanctos since a brief appearance last February in Valencia, Spain. Brash and Hello Sanctos will put in some rounds at CSI2* Peelbergen, at Peelbergen Equestrian Centre in Kronenberg, Holland. Ever the horseman, Brash is slowly bringing his most famous horse back up to form with a careful, hands on approach.
