In the final competition of the CSI5*-W event in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, Sweden’s Henrick von Eckermann charged to win the FEI World Cup Grand Prix Arab League on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
Course designer Louis Konickx of the Netherlands, set a 13-obstacle track that saw an initial field of 33 horse-and-rider combinations with 11 clear to advance to the second round.
Aboard the 11-year-old gelding Chacanno (Chacco Blue x Kannan), von Eckermann crossed the timers in 43.24 seconds in the jump-off to earn the class’ top spot.
Italy’s Emanuele Gaudiano and the 12-year-old stallion Caspar (Berlin x Padarco 2) brought in 2nd place with a time of 43.93 seconds, while home rider Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi on the 13-year-old mare Cha Cha Cha (Chacco Blue x Quick Star) rode to 3rd with a time of 45.64.
Von Eckermann and Chacanno celebrate another strong victory during his campaign in the Middle East over the last few weeks. The pair also won the CSI4* Grand Prix at Al Shira’aa International Horse Show in January.
