The first day of competition at Glock Horse Performance Center CSI5* in Treffen, Austria got underway on Thursday, June 16th, 2016. The opening CSI5* class opened with an entry list of 82 horse-rider combinations, and included some of the best riders in the world.
In fact it was the current World and European champion Jeroen Dubbeldam of the Netherlands riding the 14-year-old Mexican stallion Camilo LS La Silla (Portofino X Cor de la Bryere).
“I’m happy to be here again this year,” Dubbeldam said. “Of course it’s great that there was a victory right at the start. I would love to be amongst the leaders on Sunday too, let’s see what the next days at the GHPC Austria have on offer.”
Dubbledam’s 62.24 sec. time was threatened only by his countryman Glock-sponsored rider Gerco Schröder, who settled for 2nd place in a 64.83 seconds aboard the 12-year-old Dutch stallion Glock’s Zaranza (Karandasj X Heartbreaker).
Third place was for last year’s Glock Grand Prix winner, Switzerland’s Pius Schwizer riding the 9-year-old Selle Français gelding Tarioso Manciais (Arioso du Theillet X First Bride) to a time of 65.52 seconds.
Home riders also achieved good results for Austria with Max Kühner riding Cielito Lindo finishing in 10th place, Astrid Kneifel riding Royal des Bissons in 13th place and Roland Englbrecht riding Chambery in 17th place.
