For the second year in a row, Belgium’s Jérôme Guéry dominated in the FEI Zangersheide Sires of the World competition at the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken, Belgium.
On Friday, September 22, 2017, Belgium’s Eugène Mathy designed the 1.50m, 13-obstacle-course that saw 48 horse and rider combinations. In the class strictly for approved stallions, seven moved on to the jump-off, with Guéry and the eight-year-old Belgian Warmblood stallion Jupiter VG (Pommeau du Heup x Heartbreaker) winning in a leading time of 38.64s.
In 2nd place, Willem Greve of The Netherlands and the 10-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion Carrera (Larino Cooper x Contender) finished in a time of 39.85s. Crossing the times in 42.44s, Great Britain’s James Billington and the 10-year-old Holsteiner stallion VDL Cartello (Cartani x Lord) finished in 3rd.
