A Dutch trifecta filled out the top three on home soil for the finale of Jumping Amsterdam on Sunday, January 31, the €73,300 Anemome Horse Trucks Grand Prix of Amsterdam CSI3*.
Maikel van der Vleuten led the way, winning the class on VDL Groep Arena C over a jumpoff of 15. His countrymen, Dutch riders Doron Kuipers with Zinius, and Jeroen Dubbledam and Carusso LS La Silla, filled out the 2nd and 3rd placings.
Van der Vleuten managed the quickest jumpoff time aboard his 10-year-old Indoctro mare, crossing the timers in 37.44 seconds, which was well ahead of Kuipers’ 38.76.
Dubbledam was competing for just the third time aboard new mount Carusso LS La Silla, a 14 year old stallion by Montebello La Silla, and it was clear that he was already forging a smooth partnership with the LS-bred horse. Belgium’s Olivier Philippaerts doubled down on a very successful day; in addition to placing 4th in the Grand Prix of Amsterdam aboard H&M Legend of Love, he started his day by winning the 1.45m Prince of Hoord-Holland Price aboard H&M Challenge.
Other combinations of note in the 40-entry class were Billy Twomey and the 19-year-old Tinkas Boy, jumping to 8th place. Marcus Ehning of German and Gin Chin rode to 9th place, with Robert Whitaker in 10th place aboard Catwalk IV.
