For the 2019 Longines Global Champions Tour and Global Champions League, the beautiful city of Stockholm, Sweden will join the list of spectacular locations that set the backdrop for the international jumping circuit.
The championship series offers the highest prize money in the sport, and for the first time ever in the LGCT/GCl circuit, the world’s top riders will commute to Stockholm to compete in the Scandinavian territory.
“We are delighted to announce the addition of Stockholm, Sweden to our global circuit for 2019,” said Jan Tops, President of Longines Global Champions Tour and Co-Founder Global Champions League. “Sweden is a great horse nation and we are looking forward to working with our partners in Sweden and the City of Stockholm to deliver a truly world class event. We are fortunate to have a number of cities keen to join our calendar, and it is important, in this modern sports landscape, to give new fans an opportunity to see this fantastic sport.”
In the last few years, the Tour and League have made a series of strategic expansions to major global cities and riviera destinations; including Miami Beach, Shanghai, London, Berlin, Mexico City, Paris, and Rome. The city center and tourist locations attract new fans to the sport, while the exotic locations enhance the viewing experience for audiences watching on TV and online.
The new event will take place over the course of a week. International show jumping, dressage, entertainment, and activities will be presented to families as part of Stockholms Summer Horse Week.
More information will be available soon.
