Switzerland’s Werner Muff adds to his strong indoor season with a win of Saturday’s 1.45-1.50m Accumulator with a joker in 44.19 seconds with the 9-year-old gelding Escoffier (Lord Z x Numero Uno).
Austria’s Max Kühner and the 11-year-old mare Electric Touch (Untouchable Z x T’Is Voltaire) would bring in second place in 46.80 seconds with Italy’s Lorenzo de Luca in third at 46.93 seconds aboard the 12-year-old gelding Limestone Grey.
Saturday night’s highlight event, the CSI5* Gothenburg Trophy, would see Great Britain’s Robert Whitaker on the 11-year-old gelding Cash Sent (Verdi x Niveau) take the victory.
Sweden’s Peter Lundström designed the 1.55m track with 30 original starters. Seven combinations would return for the jump-off round, six of which would not be able to beat Whitaker’s pace of 37.15 seconds.
Home rider, Stephanie Holmén gave it her best effort coming in at 37.71 seconds for the second place position. Holmén, who recently won her first World Cup qualifier at Jumping Zürich CSI5*-W in late January marked another milestone, this time with Carma (Cardento x Ralmé Z). Saturday’s Gothenburg trophy was the first international grand prix class for the 14-year-old mare.
Previous three-time winner of this particular class, Germany’s Marcus Ehning and the 15-year-old stallion Cornado NRW (Cornet Obolensky x Acobat) would actually jump the fastest time in 35.49 seconds but would later place in third with a single jumping fault to mark their round.
