Irish rider Richie Moloney beat the clock and the rain, capturing the win in the Thursday afternoon $35,000 Hollow Creek Farm CSI 3* Speed Cup at the Split Rock Jumping Tour: Lexington International in Lexington, Kentucky. On board Slieveanorra, the 14-year-old Irish Sport Horse gelding (Voltaire x Creevagh Quaich), Moloney kept all the rails up on the Alan Wade designed course that rode very straightforward with few options to save time. It was a large field, with 48 entries to open the first day of competition at Split Rock.
“I am very happy with the win today. It was a nice way to start the week at Split Rock and both of my horses jumped great,” said Moloney. Moloney also captured second place aboard Alsvid (Escudo 1 x Adonca).
EQUIS BOUTIQUE BEST PRESENTED HORSE AWARD
Kicking off the streak of Irish luck for the show, Lorcan Gallagher of Ireland took top honors with the Equis Boutique “Best Presented Horse” Award with FEI mount Venturo 9, owned by Spy Coast Farm after evaluation at the Lexington International CSI 3* Horse Inspection on Wednesday.
Equis Boutique rises above the ordinary tack store to offer a shopping experience for the discerning equestrian and carries the most luxurious equine apparel for both horse and rider. Venturo 9, an 11-year-old Belgian Warmblood, has had top placings at Kentucky and Wellington in addition to other notable shows in North America.
