Mark Bellissimo announced this week, that The Central Park Celebration of the Horse presented by Rolex and produced by The Chronicle of the Horse, will be held Sept. 18-21, 2014, at the Trump Rink, otherwise known as the Wollman Rink, in New York City’s Central Park. This event will offer some of the best equestrian sport in North America along with daily exhibitions featuring different breeds and disciplines.
Enjoying a terrific comeback to the sport, following the birth of her first child, New York’s Georgina Bloomberg is excited for the up-coming event. “I think it will be a great thing to have a show back in New York City” says Georgina. “The fall circuit in America hasn’t been the same since the National Horse Show left Madison Square Garden and I think its important that we continue to try to bring our sport to places where the general public can come and watch.”
“The location means that this horse show will be right in the heart of the best city in the world and we can’t ask for a better place to showcase our sport. As a New Yorker and an equestrian I couldn’t be happier to have this event in my home town” remarked Bloomberg, who plans on riding at the event in September.
Presented by Rolex, the event will kick off on Thursday, Sept. 18th with the $200,000 Central Park Grand Prix featuring top ranked riders from all over the world. The Grand Prix presented by Rolex will be televised live on NBC Sports from 7:30-9:00 p.m., giving even greater exposure to this exciting addition to international competition.
