Steve Guerdat Announces Move & New Business Venture

Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat has announced that he is relocating to a new stables in his hometown of Zurich, Switzerland, where he will be starting his own business.

For ten years the 2012 London Olympic champion has been based at the stables of Urs E. Schwarzenbach in Rütihof, Herrliberg near Lake Geneva in Zurich. Schwarsenbach owned Guerdat’s champion partner Nino des Buissonnets throughout his career, and upon the gelding’s recent retirement at the CHI Geneva, he transferred ownership to Guerdat to guarantee that Nino will live out his retirement with his longtime rider.

Guerdat’s new home base is the famous equestrian center of Elgg in the Winterthur region of Zurich. He is the new owner of the property, and will manage its grounds and surrounding properties in addition to running his business there.

Guerdat thanked Schwarzenbach, his manager Werner Oberholzer and the entire staff in Rütihof for their dedication and support for over a decade, while on the other hand he is excited to fulfill his longtime dream of starting his own business.
