On the opening day of the Brussels Stephex Masters on Wednesday, August 30, Canada’s Tiffany Foster and the 11-year-old KWPN gelding Brighton (Contendro II x Quick Star) beat a field of 39 entries to take home the top honors in the feature CSI3* class of the day.

The 1.45m course was designed by Italy’s Uliano Vezzani, and only nine of the original entries made it to the jump off track. Foster came in as the third to last rider, securing the 1st place spot with a lightning fast round over the shortened course.

“I know Brighton really well, and I’ve have had him for a while now and he is an extremely competitive horse,” said Foster. “He is incredible, and the faster you go the faster his legs move – you really don’t have to worry about him knocking the jumps down. I knew [that] on the open stretches I could go as quick as I wanted to. I trust him, and like I said I know him really well – he knows exactly what he is supposed to do when he goes in the ring and is a real winner. He is an awesome horse.”

In 2nd place, Belgium’s Yves Vanderhasselt piloted the 8-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare Jeunesse (Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Quasimodo Vd Molendreef) to a time of 37.92s.  Germany’s Katharina Offel and the 10-year-old Zangersheide stallion JK Horsetrucks Leasure Z (Levisto Z x Treasure Z) finished in 38.01s for 3rd place.
