Team Coach Rob Ehrens experienced some difficulties this week creating a team for the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in La Baule, France. Team member Wout Jan Van der Schans fell of his horse, incurring an injury to his hand. The injury resulted in a tendon laceration to the finger. In an interview Ehrens stated; “Wout Jan fell with an object to his hand. His tendon got fractured. It will probably take the rider about six weeks to recover.”
Wout Jan van der Schans was replaced by reserve rider, Stefanie Van den Brink, who rode her 12 year old Dutch-bred mare Ace with nine faults in the first round but only a single time fault in the second round. Unfortunately, the Dutch team finished last today in La Baule, France. The best performing Dutch rider today was Shanghai Grand Prix winner Harrie Smolders and Euro Horse’s stunning stallion Emerald, who delivered four faults in the first round and a clear in the second round.
