GHPC Press Release
Some top sporting performances were shown by 39 active riders in the first competition of the CSI5* final day, the jumping competition in two phases over 1.45 m. This time it wasn’t only about sporting activities though, but much more the memory of Klaus Payrer. With his partner Uli, the award ceremonies of the GLOCK competitions had been his realm and, as a loving memento, today’s first 5* competition was given his name.
For this jumping competition coined by emotions there could not have been a more appropriate winner than “Living Legend” John Whitaker (GBR). With the ten-year-old Cassini II offspring Lord of Arabia he completed a dream round and 38.71 seconds meant victory in the world ranking show jumping competition. “I always try to win and today it worked out again” said a beaming John Whitaker about his success on the final day.
Swiss Youth-Olympic-Games gold medal winner Martin Fuchs (SUI) represented the generation of ‘young wild riders’ in second place. With the ten-year-old Holsteiner horse PSG Future he tried to undercut Whitaker’s time, but with 39.91 seconds he had to let the experienced rider come first. Sterrehof’s Voltaire, a twelve-year-old son of Now or Never, jumped fantastically under his rider Marc Houtzager (NED) and with 40.12 seconds to third place.
After a great round, Stefanie Bistan (AUT/NÖ) with the Mecklenburg mare Celline 2 ranked ninth. Alice Janout (AUT/NÖ) piloted the eleven-year-old Wodka Lime to eleventh place, Christian Juza (AUT/S) rode his son of Quidam de Revel, Never des Etisses, to the twelfth final place.
