In the €24,600 1.45m Longines Ranking class at the Vilamoura Champions Tour, Italy’s Piergiorgio Bucci and the ten-year-old Belgian Warmblood mare Heartbreaker Vd Achterhoe (Bentley van de Heffinck x Catango Z) bested a field of 62 to secure the 1st place victory.
The event took place on Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Vilamoura Equestrian Center in Portugal. Twenty-nine riders qualified for the jump off aboard the track designed by Italy’s Elio Travagliati and Fulvio Santi. Bucci piloted Heartbreaker to a leading time of 25.04s.
Coming in 0.1s behind Bucci, Great Britain’s Harry Charles and the 10-year-old AES gelding Victor (Vanoverbeek x Ouche de Muze) finished in 25.05s for 2nd place. Charles is coming off a 2nd place finish in Thursday’s 1.45 speed class with the ten-year-old Dutch Warmblood gelding Controe.
Ireland’s Darragh Kenny and the nine-year-old Oldenburg stallion Sandetto (Sandro Boy x Chellano Z) finished in 3rd place with a time of 25.08s.
