Belgium’s Olivier Philippaerts and his compatriot Pieter Devos stood out from the rest on Saturday at Indoor Brabant. Thirty seven riders were entered in Saturday’s feature 1.55 competition but it was Philippaerts and Devos who dominated, taking the top two spots
Philippaerts was the fourth rider in the jump-off on the stunning H&M Legend of Love. Landing a perfect pace, Philippaerts consolidated an impressive time of 35.10 seconds. It looked as though the Belgian’s time would be impossible to beat, which in fact it was.
The only one to come close to Philippaerts was Belgium’s very own Pieter Devos, who stopped the clock only 0.20 seconds behind the leading time. None of those to follow would be able to unseat Philippaerts from the lead. Brazil’s Marlon Zanotelli riding Zerlin M would slot into third place, with a strong jump off round himself, ahead of World No.1 Scott Brash and living legend Ludger Beerbaum.
